According to the information, the bomb blast took place near the Nabvi Mosque during the funeral procession of the deputy governor of Badakhshan, Maulvi Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi. He was killed in a car bomb explosion along with his driver on Tuesday in Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan.
Moazuddin Ahmadi, the provincial director of information and culture, confirmed the blast today. However, he did not give further details about the incident. However, he has given information about casualties.
Local sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the blast occurred inside the mosque where Taliban officials and locals were attending a mourning ceremony.
The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s car bombing that killed the deputy governor and his driver. Ten people were also injured in the blast. Ahmadi was injured in the blast and died shortly after in a local hospital.
