Political: ED also argued that transactions worth Rs 3 crore took place at Sanjay Singh’s residence on two occasions. At the same time, the defense rejected the arguments of ED and opposed the remand application.
After hearing the arguments of both parties, Special Judge MK Nagpal ordered to send Sanjay Singh to ED custody for five days. While being produced in the court by ED, Sanjay Singh told reporters that this is an injustice to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that his party will lose the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. On Wednesday, ED had arrested Sanjay Singh after a raid that lasted for about 11 hours.
Special public prosecutor Naveen Matta, appearing for the ED, said that a total transaction of Rs 3 crore has taken place in two installments. ED said that the said amount was given at the residence of Sanjay Singh. When Dinesh Arora investigated this with Sanjay Singh, he confirmed it.
Investigation revealed that out of approximately Rs 3 crore, Rs 2 crore was given in cash. ED said that so far a total of 239 places have been searched in the product scam case. When ED sought remand to confront the mobile and digital evidence, the court said that this could be done even without custody.
The court said that you can take the CDR of the mobile phone and when the phone is with you then what is the point of confronting it? ED said that many important people have to be interrogated.
