Afghanistan: Afghanistan has been ranked as the least peaceful country in the world for the fifth consecutive year. The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) has released the ‘Global Peace Index 2022’ list. Afghanistan is also in first place in the list of most disturbed countries in the world. After Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Russia, and South Sudan are considered the most troubled countries.
Seeing the list of the Global Peace Index 2022, the Taliban has expressed displeasure over it. Also said that injustice has been done to Afghanistan in this matter.
Afghanistan-based Tolo News has given information about this. Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Russia, and South Sudan have remained on the list of the least peaceful countries for the last three years in the Global Peace Index 2022.
Citing the IEP report, Tolo News has said that there has been a decrease in the number of deaths due to armed conflict in Afghanistan in 2022, but still, the situation has not changed much. Significantly, since the withdrawal of US troops in August last year, the level of conflict in Afghanistan has come down considerably.
According to the IEP report, civilians in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan now consider themselves safer than before. There has been little improvement regarding the criminality of Afghan citizens. According to the report, the number of people who feel unsafe walking alone here has decreased from 84 percent to 77 percent.
Along with this, it has been said in the report that in 2022, there has been a decrease of 75 percent in terrorist incidents in Afghanistan. Not only this but there has also been a decrease of 58 percent in deaths due to terrorism. Despite all this, Afghanistan remains the most troubled country in the world.
