Britain: Britain’s Manchester Crown Court has sentenced life imprisonment to a nurse who killed 7 children. The name of this nurse is Lucy Letby. When the court proceedings started on Monday, Judge Justice Goss said – Letby has refused to come to the court. That’s why the punishment was announced in his absence.
Letby was found guilty of the murder of 7 children at the Countess of Chester Hospital. He had killed all seven children in different ways. Apart from this, the allegation of an attempt to murder 6 children was also proved. All the incidents took place between June 2015 and June 2016. Indian-origin doctor Ravi Jayaram was also a witness against Letby.
Justice Goss has ordered that Lucy be handed over a copy of the statements of those Victims who have filed statements before the court and on the basis of which the sentence has been announced.
According to a report in ‘The Guardian, Lucy was to be given a life sentence for her crimes. The type of serious crimes he has committed, their example is not found in the modern history of Britain.
Lucy is the third woman in Britain to spend the rest of her life behind bars. Justice Goss has used the term ‘Whole Life Order’ in the judgment. This means that only the body of 33-year-old Lucy will come out of jail.
However, there are several provisions in UK criminal law that allow a convict to be released prematurely. In many cases, some prisoners have been released on grounds of mental health and serious illness. Its basis is humanity.
