China: Due to heavy rains in China for the last several days, life has become chaotic. However, flood waters are starting to recede in the Chinese city of Zuozhou, southwest of Beijing. Local people say that as the flood water is receding, the challenges arising from it are increasing continuously.
As of August 8, 33 people have died due to heavy floods in China’s capital Beijing, while 18 people are still missing. Beijing Daily gave this information on Wednesday.
About 1.29 million people were affected by this disaster, 59,000 houses collapsed and 147,000 were seriously damaged.
The storm that followed last week’s Typhoon Doxuri brought heavy rains to Hebei province, affecting autumn crops and damaging agricultural equipment.
Power has also been restored in several flood-affected areas of Beijing and Hebei province. State broadcaster CCTV said efforts were being made to restore power in the northeastern provinces of Jilin, Heilongjiang, and Liaoning.
