Himachal Pradesh: Heavy rains have created havoc in North and West India. Hilly states including Himachal Pradesh have suffered the most. In the last 24 hours, 34 people have died due to landslides, cloudbursts, house collapses, falling trees, and lightning due to torrential rains. A maximum of 11 deaths occurred in Himachal.
Apart from this, 8 deaths occurred in UP, 6 in Uttarakhand, 3 in Delhi, two each in Jammu-Kashmir, Haryana, and Punjab. A 40-year-old bridge has been washed away in the spate of the Beas River in Mandi, Himachal. Delhi received 153 mm of rain in a single day in July after 41 years. Northern Railway has canceled 17 trains due to rain. The routes of 12 trains had to be changed.
Since the arrival of the monsoon in Himachal on June 24, there has been huge devastation. Due to a cloudburst in Mandi and Kullu late on Saturday night, the water suddenly increased in the Beas river, which three bridges, an ATM, and four shops were washed away. The Meteorological Department has issued red and orange alerts regarding heavy rains in the next 48 hours.

Due to water-logging on the tracks in many areas of Punjab, the movement of other trains including Vande Bharat coming from Ambala to Una-Amb-Daulatpur Chowk was stopped. Shrikhand Mahadev Yatra has been postponed for two days. Six inches of water have rained in Hanumangarh of Rajasthan. There are flood-like situations in Jhunjhunu and Sikar as well.
