Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan have agreed to work together to combat terrorism. They have also agreed to enhance cooperation in various economic fields.
The Foreign Office said in a statement on Sunday that the fifth China-Pakistan-Afghanistan trilateral foreign ministers’ talks were held in Islamabad a day earlier. Foreign ministers of all the three countries participated in it.
According to the statement, the three sides agreed to enhance political engagement, counter-terrorism cooperation, trade, investment, and connectivity under the trilateral framework.
Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaki was granted special permission by the United Nations to travel to Pakistan for the meeting. Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang visited Pakistan after the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in Goa to attend the trilateral meeting.
Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Muttaki met Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday. During this, major issues were discussed between the two. They emphasized strengthening cooperation to counter terrorism in view of peace and security.
