As you read in the article heading that why Basant Panchami is celebrated, then let’s talk now. Why will Basant Panchami be celebrated?
Basant Panchami story as per Hindu Puranas :-
The festival of Basant Panchami is celebrated as the incarnation day of Maa Saraswati. Every year Basant Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Magh month. According to mythology, once Brahmaji had set out on a tour of the world. When he saw the whole universe, he saw everything mute. That is, there was silence everywhere. After seeing this, he felt that there was something missing in the creation of the world.
After this Brahmaji stopped at a place and took out some water from his kamandal and sprinkled it. So out of a great beam of light appeared a goddess, with a veena in her hands and a fierce shine on her face. This goddess was Saraswati, she bowed down to Brahmaji. Brahma ji asked this beautiful goddess to play Veena.
As the veena rang, there was sound in everything created by Lord Brahma. That’s why Brahma ji named that goddess Saraswati, the goddess of speech. That day was of Vasant Panchami. For this reason, every year on the day of Vasant Panchami, the birthday of Goddess Saraswati was celebrated and she was worshipped.
