There is no consensus among the scholars of Kashi regarding Holika Dahan, the auspicious time and dates of Holi. Acharya Ashok Dwivedi, National President of Kashi Vidvat Karmkand Parishad and former President of Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust denied all the controversies. He said that Holika Dahan continues for seven days in Deshachar, Kulachar. Holika Dahan on March 7 and Holi on March 8 can also be celebrated in Kashi. Earlier, some organizations had talked about celebrating Holi on 7th March.
Right time for Holika Dahan.
On March 7, the value of full moon is till 5.40 pm. Sunset will be at 5:49. In such a situation, 49 Ghatiya and 38 sunset Muhurta are found after the full moon. In such a situation, along with the end of Bhadra and Purnima, sunset also takes place on the evening of 7th. In such a situation, the people of Varanasi can celebrate Holi by burning Holika on the evening of March 7 and March 8.
Birth Anniversary of Lord Chaitanya Prabhu
Hatsini Jayanti and Lord Chaitanya Prabhu’s birth anniversary will also be celebrated on the evening of March 7. Acharya Dwivedi told that Holika Dahan is prohibited in Bhadra and Bhadra is ending in Brahma Muhurta. Holika Dahan will take place after Bhadra is over in the evening.
