The people of Gilgit Baltistan, the northernmost area of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), have been protesting against Pakistan for the last few days, demanding to be merged with India’s Union Territory of Ladakh. Troubled by inflation, unemployment, the people of this area are fed up with the discriminatory policies of the Government of Pakistan and are now protesting to join hands with India. People say that for decades the governments of Pakistan discriminated against them and exploited their territory.
Angry with the Pakistani army and government, these people are troubled by inflation and shortage of goods. People say that the road to Kargil should be opened and they should be allowed to meet and do business with their Baltistanis in Ladakh.
In this protest that has been going on for the last several days, people are demanding that the illegal occupation of their lands by the Pakistani government should be ended, and the exploitation of natural resources in their area should be stopped. One of his demands is that due to inflation, he is not able to buy all the essential commodities including wheat, so the government should give him subsidy.
People are now realizing that the governments here are deceiving them. Only hatred is being taught in the name of religion. People are dying of hunger. Not getting clean water to drink. There is no cure for illness. No progress has been made. The roads are in bad condition.
