In many countries of the world including India, the cases of Kovid infection are increasing again. In India alone, 10542 Covid cases have been reported in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of active Covid cases has increased to 63562 across the country.
During this, 38 people have also died, due to which the death toll across the country has increased to 5,31,190. A boom is being seen in the cases of Kovid in many countries of Europe including America, Britain. The cases of Kovid have also increased in the continent of Africa, but they are still less than before.
The reason for this spurt in Covid cases is being attributed to the Omicron subvariant XBB.1.16. It is also known as Arcturus. The Arcturus version was first revealed in January 2023.
The nature and impact of this subvariant has raised concerns among experts globally. In such a situation, know in three points why you should be afraid of these variants.

Lab tests and research have shown that the new variant of Corona XBB.1.16 has an additional mutation in the protein of Arcturus. Which increases its infectivity as well as the power to cause disease.
The research also found that XBB.1.16 is approximately 1.17 to 1.27 times more infectious than the previous significant Omicron sub-variant XBB.1.5 (Kraken). XBB.1.5 is the leading cause of infection in the UK as of February.
However, despite the potential for more rapid spread, data has shown that this variant has not yet caused serious infections. Scientists at the University of Tokyo have described it as highly resistant to antibodies. He has warned that this variant may soon spread all over the world.
