ISRO: Chandrayaan-3 started on its journey. With the launch on Friday, the third moon mission of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) began. The 642-tonne, 43.5-meter tall rocket LVM3-M4 carrying Chandrayaan-3 lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.
After reaching the Earth’s orbit, Chandrayaan-3 was put into the Lunar Transfer Trajectory. It will reach the Moon in the next 42 days by covering a distance of more than 3,84,000 km. Before the launch, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that ’14 July 2023 will always be inscribed in golden letters in the field of Indian space and will take forward the hopes and dreams of the country.

Chandrayaan-3, India’s third mission to the Moon, was launched on Friday from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The 642-tonne LVM-3 rocket of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) took off with Chandrayaan at 2.35 pm.
Chandrayaan will take about 42 days to reach the Moon. Just 16 minutes after launch, at around 2.50 pm, Chandrayaan-3 separated from the rocket at an altitude of about 179 km. Then Chandrayaan-3 started its long Moon journey of about 3.84 lakh km. The lander carried by the spacecraft is expected to soft-land on the Moon on August 23 or 24.
