India’s daily passenger traffic has crossed the pre-Covid record of 4.07 lakh passengers. On 12 February, Indian airports saw a movement of 4.37 lakh passengers. This shows that the demand for air travel is increasing despite the increase in fares. There are 131 operational airports in India and the government is planning to increase it to boost connectivity. One million jobs in America from Boeing deal
After the deal with Airbus, US President Joe Biden announced a deal of 220 aircraft between Air India and Boeing. There was also a phone conversation between Joe Biden and Narendra Modi regarding this. Biden described the deal as a milestone in the relationship between the two countries. He said, this will create more than one million jobs in 44 states of America.

Deal announced with Airbus in virtual event
Air India and Airbus announced the deal at a virtual event. The event was attended by Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Tata Group Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran, Air India CEO Campbell Wilson and Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury as well as PM Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron .
PM Modi said– This important deal shows the deepening relations between India and France as well as the success of India’s civil aviation sector. At the same time, the CEO of Airbus called this deal a historic moment. He said- Air India will write the story of its transformation with the help of Airbus. Rolls-Royce makes engines for Airbus planes British company Rolls-Royce will make engines for Airbus’s A350 planes. In such a situation, British PM Rishi Sunak said – Britain will also benefit from this agreement. American company Boeing’s 777 and 787 will have GE Aerospace engines, while all single-aisle aircraft will have CFM International engines.

US President Joe Biden has expressed happiness over the deal. The total cost of the 220 aircraft would be US$34 billion. Large size aircraft will be used for long distance flights.

Britain welcomes
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Business and Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch have welcomed a significant deal for Airbus and Rolls-Royce to provide new aircraft to Air India, the British High Commission said.
