Ukraine/UK: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on 21 July sacked Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK, Vadim Prystaiko. In fact, a few days ago Pristiko publicly criticized Zelensky.
An order from Zelensky’s office said Prystaiko had also been removed as Ukraine’s representative to the International Maritime Organization but gave no reason for the dismissal.
In an interview last week, Vadim Prystaiko was asked about a comment by British Defense Minister Ben Wallace. Ben Wallace alleges that Ukraine has not expressed enough ‘gratitude’ for Western financial aid. To this, Zelensky replied that Ukraine is always grateful to its staunch ally Britain.
Zelensky also asked for advice, could Wallace tell him how to express gratitude, or should we wake up every morning and call him to say thank you?
On this, Vadim Pristiko was asked whether Zelensky satirized Ben Wallace’s statement. In response to this Pristiko said that there was a bit of sarcasm in President Zelensky’s statement. He said the Russians need to know we’re working together
