International: Russia carried out airstrikes on rebel-held areas in northwestern Syria on Sunday. Nine people including two children died in this. According to the news agency AFP, the attack took place in the market and Jabal al-Jawiya area of Jisr al-Shughur City in Idlib province.
Syria has equated this attack to genocide. At the same time, 35-year-old laborer Saad Fatou, who was present at the scene in the city of Jisr al-Shughur, said that he helped save the lives of people during the attack.
He said – Russians fired shells at us. At the time of the attack, I was unloading tomatoes and cucumbers from my car in the market. The picture after the attack cannot be described in words. My hands are still stained with blood because of helping people.
An AFP reporter saw plumes of black smoke rising from the scene. Within no time an ambulance reached the spot and the work of taking the injured to the hospital started.
Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said it was Russia’s deadliest attack in Syria this year, tantamount to genocide. He told that last week also four people including two children were killed in the Russian drone attack.
The Syrian Defense Ministry issued a statement on Sunday evening. The ministry said several people were killed in Hama and Latakia provinces in the past few days.
