Islamabad police has reached Lahore by helicopter to arrest former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. A case has been registered against Imran Khan for threatening the judge. However, before the police could reach his house in Lahore, Imran Khan had left to attend a rally.
In such a situation, the Islamabad Police is waiting for him at Imran Khan’s house in Zaman Park, Lahore. The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad has directed the police to produce Imran Khan before March 29. This is the second non-bailable warrant against Imran Khan in the last few days. Earlier, a non-bailable warrant has been issued against Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case.
Why did the court issue a non-bailable warrant?
Islamabad’s district court has issued a non-bailable warrant against Imran Khan for not appearing in the court for threatening a judge. However, during the commencement of the hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyer filed a petition for exemption from his personal appearance.
On this, the judge ordered Imran Khan to appear himself in the next hearing and said that arguments would also be heard on the plea to avoid appearance. In such a situation, it is now believed that Imran Khan will appear in the Islamabad court soon.
Imran Khan demonstrated his strength by rallying
After the court’s decision, Imran Khan demonstrated his strength by holding a rally in the presence of thousands of supporters. A few days back, a team of Islamabad Police had arrived at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore to arrest Imran Khan. However, the police had to back down in view of protests by activists and leaders.
The SP of Islamabad Police had said that he did not find Imran Khan at home. During this, the police had also warned the supporters of Imran Khan not to take the law into their hands.
It is feared that the supporters of Imran Khan, angry with his arrest, may spoil the atmosphere by arson and sabotage. On the other hand, Imran Khan says that he fully respects the law, but he is in danger of his life.
Imran requested to appear virtual in the court
Imran Khan had sought permission from the court to participate virtually in the proceedings of the court through video link. For this, he had filed a petition before the judge for exemption from physical appearance.
During the hearing, PTI chief’s counsel Intezar Haider Panjutha said it was not safe for 71-year-old Imran Khan to visit Islamabad amid security threats. He said that Khan has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court, urging him to attend the court proceedings virtually.
