Breaking its tradition, the government of Papua New Guinea welcomed PM Modi. Actually, no foreign guest is welcomed with state honor after sunset in this country, but seeing the importance of India, the government there took this decision.
PM Modi will hold talks with Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape and new Governor Sir Bob Dade on 22 May. After this, he will join the Forum for India Pacific Island Cooperation Summit (FIPIC) to be held with the leaders of Pacific Island countries.
The heads of all 14 island nations have reached Papua New Guinea for this meeting. FIPIC was launched during Modi’s visit to Fiji in 2014. This will be the third meeting of these countries with PM Modi.
PM Modi will leave for Australia on 23 May. Here he will address the people of the Indian community. Will meet Prime Minister of Australia Antony Albanese on 24th May. Will return to Delhi on 25th May in the morning.
