WHO: The World Health Organization (WHO) gave this information on Friday. During the weekly update, WHO told that between 10 July and 6 August, 1.5 million new cases of corona were reported. This is 80% more than the last 28 days. However, during this period the number of people who lost their lives from Corona has decreased by 57%.
Between June 12 and July 9, 7 lakh 94 thousand Kovid cases were reported worldwide. Whereas between July 10 and August 6, the number of new Kovid cases increased to 1.5 million.
WHO warned that the true figure could be even higher because more testing and monitoring was being done in all countries at the time of Corona, but now it is not so. Due to less testing, there may also be a decrease in the registered cases of corona.
According to the UN agency, there has been a 137% increase in cases of corona infection in the Western Pacific region (countries like Australia, China, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, and New Zealand). Cases have increased due to the heat in the northern hemisphere countries like America, Britain, France, and Japan.
Recently WHO has also confirmed the receipt of new variants of Omicron. According to experts, cases are expected to increase due to negligence in taking precautions, increasing heat, tourism, and less testing.
On Wednesday, the WHO declared Omicron’s sub-variant EG.5 or Eris as a ‘variant of interest’ in view of increasing cases. 17% of the corona cases found in mid-July belonged to this variant. These were 7.6% more than in June. The case of the Aris variant came to light in the UK on 31 July. Most cases of this variant are found in America, China, and Britain only.
