Egypt: PM Modi, who reached Egypt on a 2-day tour, met President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Sisi awarded him the Order of the Nile, Egypt’s highest state honour. Earlier, Modi visited the 11th-century Al-Hakim Mosque. It has been rebuilt with the help of the Bohra community of India.
The Prime Minister also visited the Heliopolis Monument. Here he paid tribute to the Indian soldiers who died in the First World War. This monument has been built by the Commonwealth. It is dedicated to the 3,799 Indian soldiers who lost their lives in Egypt in World War I.
In Egypt, it is called ‘Kiladat al-Nil’. It was started in 1915 by Sultan Hussain Kamil. This award is given to those people who have made significant contributions to the service of the country.

Egypt became a republic in 1953 and thereafter the ‘Order of the Nile’ was given the status of the country’s highest honour. In this, the word Neel is actually related to the Nile River. There are four categories of this award.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Egypt on Saturday on a two-day visit. The Prime Minister there welcomed Modi at the airport. He was given a guard of honour. For the first time after 1997, an Indian Prime Minister has reached Egypt. Modi met people of Indian origin here.
