America: The way to teach the Hindi language in American schools has started opening. More than 100 public representatives associated with the ruling Democratic Party organization Asia Society (AS) and Indian American Impact (IAI) have submitted a proposal in this regard to President Biden. In this, Hindi studies will start in one thousand schools with a fund of Rs 816 crore.
There is a possibility that this proposal will be approved in view of Biden’s positive attitude towards India and the presidential election to be held next year. Hindi language studies can start in September next year. AS and IAI have assured help in arranging teachers and preparing the curriculum to start teaching the Hindi language.
Hindi teaching starting from primary classes will have the option to choose Hindi as a second language after English. Hindi is the most widely spoken Indian language by over nine lacks of the approximately 4.5 million people of Indian origin living in the US.
At present, Hindi courses are being run at the high school level in America. In this, only basic studies of Hindi are taught. Neil Makhija, President of India Impact, says that when children are not taught Hindi from the initial classes, the Hindi language option suddenly comes at the high school level, but the children are not able to understand this language at all. Now children will be able to get the benefit of starting Hindi from primary classes.
