Entertainment: Filmmaker Ekta Kapoor will be honored with the International Emmy Directing Award in 2023 at the 51st International Emmy Awards ceremony in New York. Ekta Kapoor will be the first Indian woman to receive this honor. He will be honored for his contribution to the Indian television industry and for establishing the Balaji Telefilms production house as co-founder.
Bruce L. Pasner, CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ITAS), gave this information. He said- Ekta Kapoor has entertained millions of people in India through her production house Balaji Telefilms.
Along with this, he has taken Balaji Telefilms to the level in the world of television content that today its serials are popular on TV and OTT platforms across India and South Asia.
Pasner further said- that Ekta Kapoor deserves the Emmy Director Award. By presenting him with this award, we are honoring his illustrious career and the indelible mark he has made on the television industry.
Ekta Kapoor started Balaji Telefilms in 1994 with her father Jeetendra Kapoor and mother Shobha Kapoor. Ekta Kapoor’s father Jeetendra Kapoor is an actor and producer while Shobha Kapoor works as a media executive.
Since the inception of the satellite TV industry in India in 1959, Ekta Kapoor has worked extensively in television content through her shows. Under the Balaji banner, they have produced over 17,000 hours of shows and around 45 films. Apart from this he also launched India’s first OTT platform – ALT Balaji.
