In a chilling re-run of last year’s Aaftab Poonawalla and Shraddha Walkar case, a man in Delhi allegedly killed his girlfriend just a day before his wedding and went on with his marriage festivities as if nothing had happened. Sahil Gehlot, 24, is accused of strangling Nikki Yadav, 23, when she confronted him on his alleged betrayal. After killing her, he allegedly drove around 40 km with her body strapped up in the front seat and left the car at his family’s roadside restaurant with the body in the boot.
The murder was discovered four days later, on February 14, after a neighbor reported Nikki Yadav missing and the police tracked down her partner. CCTV footage shows Sahil entering Nikki’s apartment around 1 am on February 10, and leaving with her around 5 am. They allegedly went to the Nizamuddin Railway station in South Delhi to catch a train to Goa but couldn’t get a ticket, so they decided to go to the bus station to book a trip to any hill town in Himachal Pradesh. However, they didn’t get a bus ticket either and argued for about four hours before Sahil allegedly strangled Nikki in the middle of a screaming match.
Despite committing such a heinous crime, Sahil Gehlot continued with his wedding rituals and looked far from a man who had just committed murder. Visuals from his engagement on February 9 show him enjoying himself and dancing for hours with friends. The police are now investigating the case and trying to gather strong evidence, including CCTVs, technical evidence, and forensic examination, to make it a strong case against Sahil Gehlot.
The case has similarities with the killing of Shraddha Walkar last year by her boyfriend Aaftab Poonawalla, who chopped up her body into several pieces and disposed of them bit by bit, keeping the parts in his fridge for weeks. The incidents are a grim reminder of the dangers of toxic relationships and the importance of being aware of warning signs, especially in intimate relationships.
This shocking incident has sent shockwaves across the city and the country, with people expressing their outrage and grief over the tragic death of Nikki Yadav. It serves as a wake-up call to society to take a stand against violence in relationships and demand justice for the victims. The case is a grim reminder of the dark underbelly of love and relationships and the need to address it to prevent such tragedies in the future.
