Sweden: Climate activist Greta Thunberg will appear in a Swedish court on charges of disobeying police at a climate protest. On 19 June, Thunberg and other activists were detained after blocking traffic at the port’s oil terminal in Malmö. Local newspaper Sydsvenskan has given this news.
Thunberg has been charged with refusing to obey police orders to leave the protest site. Swedish Prosecution Authority spokeswoman Anika Kolin and prosecutors gave this information in a statement.
Prosecutor Charlotte Ottosen told the newspaper that the offense of disobedience usually carries a fine. Thunberg came into the limelight in 2018 after holding weekly protests outside the Swedish Parliament.

Greta was born on 3 January 2003 in Sweden. At the age of just 8, Greta heard about climate change and started working on it. To work for environmental protection, Greta used to take leave from her school every week and used to sit on dharna outside the parliament. She has also appeared on the cover page of Time magazine.
