Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting America from 21 to 24 June this month. Teams from the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Defense of both countries have assembled to make this visit a memorable one.
An attempt is being made to remember the journey of the next five decades of PM Modi from a strategic point of view. The most concrete step for this is the preparation to be taken in the defense sector.
During the visit, a major strategic deal for the manufacture of 350 fighter jet engines in India may be approved. The agreement between American company General Electric (GE) and Hindustan Aeronautics is likely to be signed on June 22-23.
A deal to buy 30 MQ-9B armed drones is also likely to be signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US. This deal can be worth about 22 thousand crores. All three forces will get 10 such drones.
Capable of carrying around 2 tonnes of military equipment, these drones can operate in a range of up to 6,000 km with a continuous flight of 48 hours. Equipped with sensors and laser-guided bombs, these drones are also equipped with air-to-ground missiles.
