Kaushik had a long and successful career in Bollywood, having worked in over 100 films. He was born on April 13, 1956, in Mahendragarh, Haryana, and started his career in the industry as an assistant director and artist. He studied acting at prestigious institutes like FTII and the National School of Drama.
Kaushik made his acting debut in 1983 with the film “Masoom” and went on to become a popular character actor. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Comedian in 1990 for his role in “Ram Lakhan” and again in 1997 for “Saajan Chale Sasural”. He was also a well-known theatre actor and his most famous role was in the Hindi play “Salesman Ramlal”.

Apart from acting, Kaushik was also a successful director. He made his directorial debut with the film “Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja” in 1993, which starred Sridevi in the lead role. However, the film was a commercial failure. He went on to direct successful films like “Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rahte Hain” (1999) and “Tere Naam” (2003).
In 2007, Kaushik and Anupam Kher started their own film company called Karol Bagh Productions. The first film under this banner was “Tere Sang”, which was directed by Kaushik himself.
Kaushik was last seen in the film “Kaagaz” (2021), which he also produced. The film was based on the real-life story of a man who was declared dead on paper but was very much alive.
Kaushik was known for his jovial nature and had a large circle of friends in the industry. His last tweet on March 7, 2023, was about playing Holi with his friends, including Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal, Javed Akhtar, and Mahima Chaudhary.
The sudden demise of Satish Kaushik has left a void in the film industry. His contribution to Indian cinema will always be remembered. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
