Now America has understood that India will not bow down before it. US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried said on Wednesday that the US will not impose sanctions on New Delhi for buying oil from Russia. He said that India-US relations are of paramount importance.
India can buy cheap oil from Russia
For the last few months, India is buying cheap crude oil from Russia and converting it into fuel for America and Europe. This is because refined oil is not being considered as Russian oil in India and European countries have no objection to taking it. Last month alone, India sent 89,000 barrels of petrol and diesel daily to New York.
Karen Donfried, Assistant Secretary in the Department of European and Eurasian Affairs in the US State Department, has said that we have no idea to impose sanctions on India on the issue of buying oil from Russia. He said that relations with India are very important. India and the US may have different policies, but we are both determined to follow international rules. He said that we respect the sovereignty of countries. Meanwhile, Geoffrey Pyatt, Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Resources, said that America has no problem with India’s move, but we want that there should be continuous dialogue on this issue.
Jaishankar had stopped speaking
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had recently stopped speaking to the US and European countries regarding Russian oil. Showing the mirror, he had said that in February 2022, Europe had bought six times more fossil fuel from Russia than India. On his visit to Austria, the foreign minister silenced Westerners by reminding them of their arguments and history.
