There was a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Turkey on Monday (February 6), in which 175 people have died so far. The death toll is rising rapidly while thousands of people have been injured. PM Modi further said, India stands in solidarity with the people of Turkey and is ready to provide all possible assistance to deal with this tragedy. Let us tell you that due to the earthquake, there has been a huge loss in Syria including Southeast Turkey.
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has also expressed grief over this devastation in Turkey. He tweeted, ‘Extremely saddened by the loss of life and property in the earthquake in Turkey. The Turkish Foreign Minister has been informed that our sympathies and support are with Turkey at this difficult time.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in Gaziantep, Turkey, which is about 90 kilometers from the Syrian border. Because of this, strong tremors of earthquake were also felt in many cities of Syria. Earthquake tremors were felt in Turkey at 4.17 am, whose depth was 17.9 kilometers from the ground. Due to this severe earthquake, many buildings collapsed on sight and there was hue and cry all around.
Giving information about the earthquake, Turkish President Rajab Tayyab Erdugan tweeted that rapid rescue operations are being carried out in the affected areas. During this earthquake, people felt tremors about 6 times. The President appealed not to enter the affected areas.
