India’s strained relations with China and Pakistan have been there for a long time, but Bilawal Bhutto sent a formal invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in view of the very objectionable statements he made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few days back. Going may be of interest. The meeting of foreign ministers of SCO member countries is to be held in Goa on 4-5 May.Foreign Minister of Pakistan Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Foreign Minister of China Qin Gang are among the foreign leaders who have been invited by the Government of India for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting to be held in Goa.
In December last year, during a meeting of the United Nations, in a press conference, attacking PM Modi very personally, said objectionable things. Bhutto had said, “Osama bin Laden is dead, but the butcher of Gujarat is alive and he is the Prime Minister of India.” Bilawal Bhutto not only made this objectionable statement, but did not even express regret for it despite India’s objection and all-round strong criticism. Rather, even after this, he kept on justifying his controversial statements again and again. In such a situation, it will be a matter to be seen whether he accepts India’s invitation and attends the SCO’s Goa conference or not. It will also be interesting to see that if Bilawal Bhutto comes to India, how would he be welcomed here.
After Bilawal Bhutto made objectionable remarks on PM Modi, not only in India but also abroad, demonstrations were held against him and effigies were burnt. However, news agency ANI has quoted sources as saying that Pakistan has not yet confirmed whether Bilawal Bhutto will come to Goa after accepting India’s invitation. India took over the presidency of the 9-member Shanghai Cooperation Organization in September last year.
SCO Film Festival is also happening in India this month, in which all the member countries of the organization except Pakistan have sent their films. Apart from India, the nine members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization include Russia, China, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan. Iran has recently joined this organization and is going to participate in the meeting for the first time. The last meeting of SCO was held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended.
