ICC Awards 2022: Pakistan captain Babar Azam has been declared ODI Cricketer of the Year 2022 by the ICC. He has been considered the best ODI batsman of the year for the second time. Earlier this feat was done by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Now Babar Azam has also joined this special club of top players. Earlier in 2021 also Babar Azam achieved this feat.

Babar Azam has played a total of 9 ODIs in the year 2022 and has scored a total of 679 runs at an average of 84.87. In this, Azam scored a total of 5 half-centuries while he has a total of 3 centuries in 9 matches. Earlier in the year 2021 also, Babar Azam had batted brilliantly and became the ICC ODI Player of the Year. This is the second consecutive year that Babar Azam has achieved this feat.

Talking about ICC’s ODI Player of the Year twice in a row, former Team India captain Mahendra Singh has done so twice in 2008 and 2009. He is also the first batsman to be named ICC ODI Player of the Year twice. After this AB de Villiers achieved this feat in 2014 and 2016. Virat Kohli has become the ODI Player of the Year twice in a row in 2017-18.
