Whenever the name of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta comes, only one epic book comes in the mind of all the people, “Mahabharat” which was written by Maharishi Vedvyas.
Mahabharata is also called by many other names like Jai Samhita, Shat Sahastra Samhita.
In the epic Mahabharata, when Arjuna was in doubt in the battlefield, his charioteer and friend Shri Krishna showed him the way, which is described in the form of verses, which is called Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta.
Bhagavad Gita is also called Yogashastra because it also discusses Karma Yoga, Gyan Yoga and Bhakti Yoga
Bhagwat Geeta becomes very important from the student’s point of view because in this the concept of selfless action comes out of it.
It is very important to bring selfless action into life. So we can say that it would be correct to verses(shlokas) in NCERT books but it will not be right to teach it by linking it to particular religion.
